Liverpool are left to focus only on the FA Cup

After their recent defeats against Arsenal and Manchester United, Liverpool are left to focus only on the FA Cup for the remainder of the campaign. The Reds will be playing against Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final.

The winners of the match will face either Arsenal or Reading in the final. One best ways for Liverpool to get a victory against Villa is for star Raheem Sterling to weave just magic.Sterling has been caught up in a cloud of controversy over the last few weeks. Following his public comment that he had indeed rejected a contract offer from Liverpool, Sterling was then photographed with illegal activities during his leisure time.

Midfielder Lucas Leiva says that the youngster should learn from the Liverpool heroes of the past and present just as he did a few years ago. Lucas was heavily criticised after arriving as a young midfielder with limited experience. However, he is now one of the respected members of the team after having grown in stature over the last five years. Lucas says that he has taken a lot of cues from the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher. He has advised Sterling to do the same in order to become a top player.

“I was very young when I came here and, when I looked around, I would see Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso or Pepe Reina and how they conducted themselves. They were real role models. They were successful not just because of their talent but because they did things the right way. These days it is hard to give any kind of advice to young players because they have so many people around them. Ten years ago you had more space. Now you have to be extra careful because everyone is filming or taking pictures on their phones,” said Lucas.
