After a stunning first half to the season, there is a chance that Liverpool can win the first Premier league title in their history, but midfielder Lucas Leiva is more focused on qualifying for the Champions league above all else. Liverpool have not played in this competition for the last four years, which is a major disappointment for a club that has lifted the trophy five times. Liverpool are one of the prestigious clubs when it comes to the Champions League, but they have been without even the Europa league this season.

Suarez has been a major driving force for Liverpool this campaign and he has propelled them close to the top of the table just before Christmas. The last time Liverpool were in this position was back in 2008 during the regime of Rafa Benitez. They finished second in the Premier league back then. Even though there has been a lot of talk about Liverpool winning the title, Lucas says that finishing in the top four is far more important. Liverpool will have one of the biggest tests of the season when they take on Manchester City at the Etihad stadium.

City have been extremely strong at their home this campaign.

"As the club is not playing the Champions League the last three years, certainly our first goal is to return to this competition. The title I think we still have many games left and we still can not talk about it. It has been almost half [the season], but it is still too early. Is too early to say who is favourite to win. Also is early to say that the team who is in relegation zone is out as well. Today the league is very balanced. The teams that did not lose points in recent years, are now missing," said Lucas.
