Lazio play the best football in Italy - Igli Tare

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare believes that his side are playing best football in Italy, and deserve to be attracting bigger crowds at the Stadio Olimpico.

Simone Inzaghi's men have made a hugely impressive start to the 2017/18 season, beating Juventus to the Italian Super Cup title earlier in August.

The Capital outfit have won five of their seven Serie A outings this term, and they are currently just five points behind Napoli, who have achieved a perfect start to the campaign. Lazio thrashed Sassuolo by a 6-1 scoreline during recent league outing and Tare is frustrated that the club's form is viewed as a surprise by some.

He told Mediaset Premium: "It's irritating that people keep saying Lazio are the surprise of Serie A. This team isn't a surprise now. We've improved the project year by year and are now reaping the rewards. Juve, Napoli, Inter and Roma have a winning mentality and quality players. Lazio are reaching these levels. Now, we need more fans in the stadium because it's sad that Lazio play fantastic football, probably the best football in Italy at the moment, but with an attendance that leaves a lot to be desired."

Former Torino star Ciro Immobile has been a huge hit for Lazio this term with nine goals in just seven Serie A appearances, and he is only behind Juventus' Paulo Dybala, who he will tackle in a fortnight's time. The Juventus game is likely to provide a major test of Lazio's top-four credentials, but they will be optimistic over a positive result after they beat the Old Lady 3-2 in the Italian Super Cup back in August.

Meanwhile, Lazio are also in a good stead in the Europa League with six points from their opening two group stage games. They face off against French outfit Nice in the next encounter on October 19.
