LEIVA: IT WAS AN HONOR TO PLAY FOR LIVERPOOL
English Premier League giants Liverpool have had a number of great players to have played for the team in the last decades and while some of those players came through the youth academy ranks at Anfield, some others were brought in from another club. Top stars like Fernando Torres, Xavi Alonso, Javier Mascherano, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, and others have all cemented their names in the history of the club as some of the best players to have played for Liverpool in the last decades.
While it is normal for a club to have a crop of star players, some would not make it to the spotlight like the others, but they would still, with their own contributions, be as important to the squad as the other key players. One example of this type of player is Lucas Leiva. The former Liverpool man was usually not the best of the best at Anfield during his time at the club but he was equally an important tool and was very helpful and useful as a crucial member of the squad as a whole.
The former midfielder has now revealed how much of an honor it was to play for the Reds, signing that he remained brave to remain a Liverpool player even though he was getting offers from other clubs to sign for them. Although he eventually left Liverpool and signed for Italian Serie A outfit Lazio, the move only happened because Liverpool appeared to no longer be interested in keeping him at some point.
Leiva said that the best moment of his career was when he played for Liverpool and that even if he could turn back the hands of time, he would still choose the Reds over again because of how he and the fans shared a bond and a cordial relationship both on and off the pitch.
