LUCAS LEIVA: LAZIO CAREER EXAMINED

Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva signed for Italian Serie A capital club Lazio after ending his ten-year stay with Premier League giants Liverpool. Lucas Leiva had moved to Liverpool from Gremio where he began his professional football career. The midfielder signed for the Reds from Brazilian club Gremio in 2007. While he was at Liverpool, Lucas won the League Cup title at the club.

Lazio paid around £5m to sign Lucas Leiva from the Reds and he has been with the Italian Serie A side till date.
Lucas Leiva made his Lazio debut against Juventus in the Italian Super Cup. He was able to win his first title with Lazio just after his first game for the club. He was part of the Lazio team that beat the Old Lady 3-2 to win the 2017 Italian Super Cup on August 13, 2017. He found the back of the net for the first time as a Lazio player during the Europa League clash with ZulteWaregem from the Belgian league. He scored one of the goals in a 3-2 home defeat to the Belgian team.

Brazilian star Lucas Leiva was the only one to miss a penalty during the Coppa Italia semi-final clash with AC Milan. The Rossoneri beat Lazio 5-4 on penalties to advance to the 2018 Coppa Italia final. The last four clash involving Lazio and Milan took place on February 28, 2018.

Lucas Leiva scored his second Lazio goal during the Europa League clash with Ukrainian Premier League team Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League round of 16. He scored the opening goal in the 2-0 home win over Dynamo Kyiv on March 15, 2018 as the Italians sealed a 4-2 win on aggregate to advance into the quarterfinals. The Brazilian finished his debut season with 50 games in all competitions and was named the club's best player.
