LUCAS PLAYS WHOLE GAME AGAINST VENEZIA

Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva was on for the whole game as Lazio beat Venezia 1-0 at home in the Italian Serie A to make it two successive league wins. The Italian capital giants were able to beat Venezia on the back of their impressive 3-0 away win over Cagliari with ten men.

Lucas Leiva has been a key player for Maurizio Sarriin his first season as the Lazio manager. The Italian tactician was given the Lazio job after Simone Inzaghi left the club to take the place of title-winning manager Antonio Conte at Inter Milan.

Lazio are on a run of two successive league wins which has propelled them to fifth spot on the Italian Serie A table. They are seven points adrift of Juventus in fourth spot with nine games to play before the end of this season.
Star striker Ciro Immobile has been a major source of goals for Lazio over the past years and the Euro 2020 winner was the main man once again after he scored the only goal of the game to lead Lazio to a slim win over Venezia who are a newly promoted team in the Italian top flight this season. Immobile scored the winning goal from the penalty spot around two minutes shy of the hour mark.
His goal against Venezia took him to 21 league goals for the season thus making him the outright topscorer in the Italian Serie A. The Italian international now has one more goal than new Juventus striker DusanVlahovic. Hellas Verona star Giovanni Simeone and Inter Milan attacker are on 15 goals and 14 goals respectively in the race for the Serie A Golden Boot, while England international Tammy Abraham has 13 goals for AS Roma.
Brazil international Lucas Leiva has played 36 times for Lazio this season including 26 times in the league, eight times in the Europa League and twice in the Coppa Italia.
