Leiva Causes COncern Amongst Liverpool Fans

Lucas Leiva has caused a lot of concern amongst Liverpool fans after openly admitting that he wants to play for the club’s former manager Rafa Benitez. The Brazilian midfielder was initially criticised by a lot of fans during the early part of his Liverpool career, but he eventually won them over through sheer hard work. Under the guidance of Benitez, Lucas became one of the important players at Liverpool and was also a regular fixture in the Brazilian national team. After several managerial changes in the last few years, his position at the club has become less secure.

Gerrard Believes High Wages Cause Lack Of Dedication

Steven Gerrard reckons that because of the high amount of bucks that the soccer players get at a young age in club football nowadays, they don’t remain that hungry to make appearances for their country. They just focus on playing for their respective clubs.

Gerrard’s national side England has suffered early exit from another one of the FIFA Competitions i.e. the FIFA World Cup 2014.

In one of his interviews recently, the midfielder talked about the factors which are having adverse affect on the condition of the Three Lions national team. When he was asked if money is one such factor, he said, “Yes, it is to some extent. Those players who play the game only to get famous and to earn cash, it can surely distract them.”

Leiva Invites Cafu To Liverpool Training

Brazilian legend Cafu has revealed that he had the opportunity to witness John Flanagan in action after being invited to the Liverpool training by midfielder Lucas Leiva. Lucas Leiva may have lost his first-team spot in the Brazilian national team after the appointment of Luiz Felipe Scolari, but he still has a lot of friends with the current and former Brazilian players. One of them is Cafu, who is regarded as one of the finest right backs in the world. Along with left back Roberto Carlos, Cafu dominated the international football for a period of 10 years.

Leiva Rejects Suggestions About Moving

Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva has rejected suggestions that he is about to leave the club at the end of the season. After the final match of the season against Newcastle United, Lucas tweeted a message that appeared to be a farewell. He thanked the fans for a remarkable seven seasons at the club. Lucas has not been a first-team regular this campaign. This has resulted in him losing his spot in the Brazilian national team. Lucas will not be travelling with the Brazil squad for the World Cup 2014.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is now struggling to make his way into the Brazil 2014 squad after being starved of first-team action at Liverpool. Under the last few managers, Lucas has been a regular first-team player. He seemed to form an impeccable partnership with Steven Gerrard in the centre of midfield. However, Brendan Rodgers has brought about a significant change to the way Liverpool have been playing this season. The likes of fast players like Coutinho and Jordan Henderson have been preferred in the centre of the park, while Gerrard himself has had to play a defensive role.

Luiz Felipe Scolari’s are going through an unbeaten streak as they have claimed consecutive triumphs victories against Japan, Mexico, Italy, Uruguay, Spain and South Africa as some of their latest fixtures of friendly matches and FIFA Confederations Cup.

Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva has not been featured in any of those matches as Scolari is taking more into consideration the younger players with Barcelona’s Neymar being one of the prominent figures which the team will be built around for the upcoming World Cup.

Leiva hopes that Brendan Rodgers signs Nigel de Jong

Lucas Leiva said that he would be elated if Brendan Rodgers would bring in Nigel de Jong from AC Milan. He believes if the Liverpool boss does manage to sign this player in the summer transfer then it would strengthen the team to a great extent. The Merseyside team is currently in the fourth place in the Barclays Premiere League and they are just 3 points adrift of Spurs who are determined to fight till the last match to get a Champions League opportunity next season.

The manager of Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers, hopes that Lucas Leiva doesn’t miss games because of the injury that he discovered while representing the Reds in a league game against Aston Villa last weekend.

Leiva had not been included in the starting line up of Liverpool for that game. He came onto the pitch at the start of the second half and was looking in fine touch, but, with about 25 more minutes remaining in the game, he collided with one of the Villa players and injured his knee. He was not comfortable at all while leaving the ground and that led to the speculations that it might be another spell on the sidelines for him.

After a stunning first half to the season, there is a chance that Liverpool can win the first Premier league title in their history, but midfielder Lucas Leiva is more focused on qualifying for the Champions league above all else. Liverpool have not played in this competition for the last four years, which is a major disappointment for a club that has lifted the trophy five times. Liverpool are one of the prestigious clubs when it comes to the Champions League, but they have been without even the Europa league this season.
