Gremio reaffirm interest in signing Lucas Leiva

Brasileirao Serie A side Gremio are plotting an attempt to re-sign midfielder Lucas Leiva following his release from Liverpool earlier this month.

The Brazil international spent 10 years at Merseyside where he remained a crucial player in the first-team squad. Though his appearances were reduced last season, Jurgen Klopp used him as a utility player in the central defensive department when the club was short of sufficient options through injury.

IBRAHIMOVIC AND TERRY TOP EXPERIENCED FREE PLAYERS

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and John Terry sit atop the list of the experienced players that are up for grabs this summer after they were released from their contracts by their clubs.

The Swede came in from PSG on a high after winning several titles. He started well at Old Trafford until an unfortunate injury that is threatening his career.

LIVERPOOL IN TALKS WITH CAN

Premier League side Liverpool have opened talks with Emre Can. Anfield is happy with the display of the midfielder for the Kops so they want to extend his deal.

Can was on the star that scored a stunning, match-winning bicycle kick against Watford in the league.

With Manchester United losing to Arsenal, the Reds have a decent chance at a top four finish this term. Manchester City, Man United and Arsenal had the advantage of games in hand but Liverpool have maintained their resilience as they seek Champions League football next term. Can scored the only goal through his acrobatic effort – an effort that might have contributed to the new talks.

Lucas Unsure about His Future with Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly requested midfielder Lucas Leiva to reconsider his decision to leave the club at the end of the campaign.

Lucas was widely expected to leave Liverpool last summer but it is believed that the club prevented him from departing. In doing so, he has been able to spend a decade at Liverpool. The 30-year-old has played in closed to 350 games for the club since moving from Gremio in 2007. The midfielder recently claimed that he still has the ability to offer several years of top level football, but the importance provided by the manager could be the key towards extending his stay at the club.

FANS CONDEMN LUCAS’ INCLUSION AGAINST EVERTON

Liverpool fans took to social media to blast Coach Jurgen Klopp for his inclusion of Brazilian defender Lucas Leiva in the game against Everton in the Premier League.

The experienced player featured as a substitute in the last three league matches for The Reds.

However, following the injury to Three Lions forward Adam Lallana, Klopp had to bring in the 30-year old defender. Leiva featured alongside Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum. Many condemned the performance of Leiva in the Merseyside derby.

Gremio Target Lucas Leiva, but Admit Difficulties in Resigning the Midfielder

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva was subjected to several transfer rumours in the summer, but he ended up staying at the club.

It was a surprise considering that he did not seem to be a first choice player at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. The 30-year-old midfielder started his career with Brazilian outfit Gremio back in the 2005 season. After spending only two seasons with the Brazilian club, Lucas moved to the English Premier league in 2007. Incredibly, Lucas is one of the longest serving players at the club after having been at Anfield for more than a decade. Yet, his time at the club seems to be coming to an end.

Gerrard believes in Klopp

Steven Gerrard has asked fans to give Jurgen Klopp more time before judging him. The German manager has come under intense pressure during recent weeks as Liverpool fail to mount a serious challenge for a top-four finish.

The former Liverpool captain said that Jurgen Klopp is an experienced manager and that he will surely find ways to help the team win games again. He said that in every season there is up and down and it is important that fans remain behind the team during these times.
