WILLIAN EXTENDS RECORD OVER LUCAS LEIVA

Arsenal winger Willian has extended his Premier League record over Lucas Leivaas regards the most appearances made by Brazilians after he made an appearance off the bench during the home game with Manchester United to take his tally to 250 appearances in the competition. Lucas Leiva is no longer a Premier League player after he left Liverpool to join Lazio in the Italian Serie A.


Lucas Leiva made 247 appearances for Liverpool in the English top flight before he made the move to Italy. Willianequalled his record in the recent thumping win over struggling West Bromaway from home. The Gunners were able to beat West Brom 4-0 to take their winning run to three games in the league.

Alexandre Lacazette scored twice during that West Brom in addition to the first two goals from Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka.Willian then broke the record of LucasLeivaby making appearance number 248 during the penultimate home game in the league, a 3-0 win over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal skipper Pierre-EmerickAubameyang was the hero for Arsenal against the Magpies after he scored two second half goals either side of the strike from Bukayo Saka.
Willian extended the record by two after he came on as asecond half substitute during the away game at Southampton. Willian and Arsenal came from behind to defeat the Saints 3-1 at their backyard. Southampton had taken the lead through Stuart Armstrong before goals from Nicholas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette secured the points for the Gunners to take their run to five wins and one draw from the last six games in the top flight.Willian then extended his lead over Lucas Leiva by three games after he came on for Gabriel Martinelli at the half-time interval of the home game against Manchester United, which ended in a goalless draw.
